how a round goesFull chess over the call: a knight jumps in an L and takes a pawn.

Chess, whole and unabridged — castling, en passant, promotion, the fifty-move draw. Play it out over an evening on the call, or take the bot apart while they sleep.

Classic Chess is one of 15 free games on crisskross arena, a browser site for two people who are not in the same room. It runs on any phone, tablet or laptop with nothing to download, and the room has a video and voice call built in, so you can see each other while you play.

How to play Classic Chess with someone far away

  1. Open crisskross arena and sign in with Google — free, one tap, and only the host needs to.
  2. Find Classic Chess in the list and press host. The room opens with an invite link and a 5-character code.
  3. Send the link however you already talk — text, WhatsApp, Discord. The other person opens it, picks a name and a character, and joins.
  4. The video and voice call starts inside the room. Every move syncs live on both screens.
